Oukan

Oukan’s kakiage soba is the kind of bowl that invites you to think about how best to eat it. One visitor enjoyed the thick, generous piece of kakiage as the hot broth soaked into it, breaking it up little by little with chopsticks and mixing it with the soba. The tempura soba set meal is listed at 560 yen in the menu information; for a lighter meal, there is also tempura soba on its own for 320 yen.

Soba and udon are the focus, with options to suit different appetites and tastes. Kake udon costs 320 yen, while meat udon is 600 yen. Soba set meals include kake soba and wakame soba, as well as meat soba. For a bowl of rice alongside your noodles, consider the tendon set, served with udon or soba, or the meat and egg rice bowl.

One diner reported that a set meal, with kake soba, rice, croquette and salad, made for a filling meal. Another visitor said they crumbled the croquette into the soba broth. Adding a croquette, available on its own for 110 yen, is another way to change up the flavour of the noodles.

Breakfast is available, and the shop is open every day from 6:00 to 16:00. Whether stopping between connections for breakfast or lunch, diners can opt for a quick bowl of noodles or a more substantial set meal or rice-bowl set.
